For boutique and mid-tier Melbourne law firms

The work an intern would do.
Overnight. Weekends. Without leave.

An AI workstream wired into your matter management system. It reads new matter documents and produces a brief. It builds chronologies from correspondence. It extracts deadlines and action items into your task system. It drafts first-cut file notes for lawyer review. You stay in charge of every output.

Data stays put Your data does not leave Australian regions
Lawyer signs off Every output is reviewed before it leaves the file

Five jobs.
Hours back per lawyer per week.

Matter intake brief

A new conveyancing file lands. 40 pages of vendor statement, section 32, contract of sale. The supervising lawyer needs to know what is in there in under 5 minutes.

AI reads the file, returns a one-page brief: parties, property, special conditions, missing documents, dates that matter, risks worth flagging. The lawyer opens the file already knowing what is inside.

Chronology builder

Family law matter, 18 months of email correspondence in the file. The barrister wants a chronology by Friday. A paralegal would take a day.

AI extracts dated events from the file (emails, file notes, court documents), de-duplicates, sorts, formats. Draft chronology in 20 minutes. Lawyer reviews and signs off.

Action and deadline extraction

A contract or court order lands. Buried in clause 14.3 is a 21-day notice requirement. Someone has to spot it. Most firms have lost a deadline this way at least once.

AI scans every incoming document for dates, deadlines and obligations. Pushes them straight to your task system with the supervising lawyer assigned. A second set of eyes on every file, every time.

First-cut file notes

Phone call with a client at 4:55pm. File note never gets written because the lawyer needs to leave. Two weeks later, no one remembers what was discussed.

Lawyer dictates a 30-second voice memo or fires a single sentence to a private channel. AI returns a properly structured file note in your house style for the lawyer to approve and post to the matter.

"What is on this file" answers

A partner asks the junior "what is happening with the Singh matter, have we heard back about the EOT". The junior spends 20 minutes finding out.

Anyone in the firm asks the AI in plain English. AI returns the latest status from the file. No more "I will get back to you" loops between partners and juniors.

Incoming-mail triage

Reception gets 50 emails a day. Half are matter-related, half are spam, supplier statements, marketing. Each one needs a human to classify.

AI reads each one, matches it to the right matter, flags urgency, drafts an acknowledgement reply if appropriate. Reception only sees the genuinely-needs-human pile.

We will be plain about what we are not building.

Not giving legal advice. Every output is reviewed by a lawyer before it leaves the file. The AI is a workstream, not a practitioner.

Not appearing on court documents or correspondence to clients without explicit review. The AI drafts, the lawyer signs.

Not replacing supervising lawyers. The work it does is the work a paralegal or first-year associate would have done, freeing senior fee-earners for actual practice.

Not exposing your matter data outside Australia. Source data stays in your practice management system. Inference happens in Australian regions. We do not train on your data and the model provider does not train on your data.

First three Melbourne firms.
No fee. Full setup. Real matters.

We are looking for three Melbourne law firms (5 to 50 lawyers) to be design partners for the first production deployment. You get the full setup at no cost, four weeks of real-matter use, weekly tuning, and a written summary of the hours back per lawyer at the end. If it works for you, we move to paid; if not, you owe nothing and we have learned.

Reasonable conditions: a quick conversation about your matter types so we tune it right, willingness to log honest feedback weekly, and an introduction or testimonial at the end if you are happy.

Less than a part-time intern.
Quoted, not estimated.

Setup

$1,500 to $3,000 once-off, depending on which systems we wire in and how many matter types we tune for. Fixed fee, quoted upfront, payable on go-live.

Run

$500 to $1,500 monthly, scaled by matter volume. Includes hosting, monitoring, prompt and template tuning, and any new matter-type templates we add. Cancel anytime, written 30 days notice.

Compared to

A part-time paralegal at $30 to $40 per hour, 20 hours a week, 48 weeks a year, is $28,800 to $38,400 annually. Plus super, leave loading and the recruitment cycle.

20 minutes.
Honest answer either way.

Tell us what your firm does (areas of practice, matter types, practice management system). We will tell you whether your firm fits the pilot, what the setup would look like, and what the four-week test would measure. No pitch deck, no commitment.
